How does OneMain Financial verify income?

OneMain Financial checks the applicant’s own income before it agrees to lend.

Portal Finanças Inteligentes

OneMain Financial checks the applicant’s own income before it agrees to lend. The documents it accepts — pay stubs, bank deposits, a benefits letter, a tax return — are whatever its current application lists. Read that list in the application you started. Do not send those papers to a number that called you first.

Do not make income look larger than it is. That is fraud. Stated income still has to be true, and the lender can refuse the loan or call it due if the papers do not match. The CFPB’s general guidance on installment loans is at consumerfinance.gov. The APR you are offered is on the loan estimate OneMain gives you, not on this site.

If a message says you were approved and must pay a fee up front to “release” the loan, stop. A lender fee, when it is real, is disclosed in the loan documents, not in a text.
